Behind the scene – EXTRAMET takes a closer look
As an established solution partner for Aerospace Industry the leading aircraft manufacturers are part of our Customer portfolio. Of course not every employee got the chance to see a production site live.
This fact and as traineeship, we visited the main Swiss Airplane manufacturer Pilatus Flugzeugwerke AG. In an exciting tour through the plant in Stans, the EXTRAMET-Team gained an insight into the production process of Airplanes and saw on the spot, in what operations tungsten carbide is applied.
Every 3 days in average, a finished Airplane leave the production. This is very impressive, considering the complexity of the processes to build one of those famous Plains. For example, building up the fuselage of an aircraft PC-12 demands the setting of more than 70’000 rivets. At least the same number of drill holes has to be made, which are made with tools like rivet countersinks from our Customers.
Our thanks go to the whole Pilatus-staff for this fascinating afternoon and educational experience.
